Layered Lettuce Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 large head iceburg lettuce, coarsely shredded
1 (8-ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup green pepper, chopped
1 (17-ounce) can Lesueur petit peas, drained
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 (3-ounce) can bacon bits
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Methods:

1. Layer in serving bowl as follows: lettuce, water chestnuts, celery, green peppers, and peas.
2. Spread mayonnaise evenly over top.
3. Sprinkle with sugar, then cheese and bacon bits.
4. Cover tightly and chill for 8 hours or overnight.
5. This salad keeps well.
